Hi, I am trying to get rid of that annoying "status" column. I don't use On-demand and have all my OneDrive files on my PC so I don't care about the status.

I succeeded in removing the column in my professional OneDrive folders, but not in my personal one.

There seem to be a change in how the "On demand" setting is deployed. Before we could turn it on and off and now it seems we only have a button to "Download all files" which doesn't explain what it's going to do with new files :

the profesional OneDrive still has this "old" settings (which is better imho; it's clearer and it does what I expect OneDrive to do) :

    Hi,

Thanks for sharing all the details. Before we go further, are you trying to just hide the Status column in File Explorer or completely turn off Files On-Demand so everything stays local?

I see what you mean in the screenshots. The Status column shows OneDrive sync indicators and is tied to Files On-Demand. In the past, you could turn this feature off, which removed those indicators. Microsoft has changed that, now you only get options like “Download all files” or “Free up disk space,” so the Status column stays because sync states are still active even if everything is downloaded.

There’s no built-in way to remove the Status column for personal OneDrive anymore. You can hide it manually in File Explorer by unchecking “Status” in the column header and applying the view to all folders, but that won’t disable sync indicators completely.

From what you’ve shown, personal OneDrive uses the new interface with just two buttons, while professional accounts still have the old toggle, which is much clearer. This looks like a rollout of the new Files On-Demand experience for personal accounts, removing the option to fully disable it.

Feel free to follow up with more details, and I’ll be happy to assist further.

    Best regards,

    Edward
