Switching between existing Microsoft 365 Personal to 365 Family

I currently have an active Microsoft 365 Personal subscription under my personal Microsoft account. I’ve been invited to a Microsoft 365 Family plan by the organizer, and I have already accepted the invitation.

Before I cancel my Personal subscription, I need clarification:

If I cancel Microsoft 365 Personal and continue using the Family plan with the same Microsoft account, will all my existing OneDrive files and folder structure remain intact?

Is there any risk of data deletion or loss of access to OneDrive during or after the switch?

Do I need to move/migrate anything manually, or will my storage and entitlement automatically transition to the Family plan?

Is there a grace period after cancellation during which my files are still safe even if my Personal plan ends before the Family benefits apply?

Will there be any service interruption to Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.) on my devices during the switch?

Are there any refund/proration considerations I should be aware of when cancelling early?

Could you confirm the exact steps I should follow to ensure a smooth transition with no data loss?

Thank you for your guidance.

Nothing will change every the license. Your OneDrive (and email) won't be affected. At most, you would need to sign in to activate office again.

You can't accept the share until the personal subscription expires and they won't give you a refund unless you just renewed it. Cancelling the personal subscription won't end it now but at the current expiration date.
