How can I toggle back and forth to different "meeting rooms" like with ZOOM?

I have a meeting at which I need to separate the participants into separate meeting rooms (as I can with ZOOM). Can I do this with TEAMS and if so, how do I do that?

Thank you!

    Hi Cheri,

Yes, Microsoft Teams has a feature called Breakout Rooms that works similarly to Zoom’s meeting rooms. You can use it to split participants into smaller groups during a meeting and then bring everyone back together when needed.

    Before the Meeting (Scheduled Meeting):

    • Open Microsoft Teams and go to your Calendar.
    • Click on the scheduled meeting.
    • Select Breakout rooms from the top menu.
    • Choose the number of rooms you want.
    • Decide whether to assign participants automatically or manually.
    • You can rename rooms and assign participants ahead of time.

    During the Meeting

    1. As the meeting organizer, click the Breakout rooms icon in the meeting toolbar.
    2. Create rooms and assign participants (if not done earlier).
    3. You can:
      • Move participants between rooms.
      • Send announcements to all rooms.
      • Join any room to assist.
      • Close rooms to bring everyone back to the main meeting.

    Switching Between Rooms

    • You (as the organizer) can freely join and leave rooms.
    • Participants cannot switch rooms on their own, but you can move them if needed.

I haven't tried this yet but it sounds so easy. Jeric explained the process very well - the answer is perfect.

    Thank you, I appreciate it!
