I’m trying to write a document in word, but the ribbon is mostly blocked by the toolbar on top. Never had this issue and can't figure out how to fix it. I have a MackBook Pro.

There is no cure at the user level. It's a UI bug introduced by the most recwent update which has to be fixed at the developer level.

Until a fix is delivered the bottom edge of the Ribbon tabs still can be accessd & the Option key method of accessing the Ribbon works as well... or just avoid Full Screen for the time being.

Hi Jerri Solomon, thanks for flagging this. First, try toggling fullscreen mode by pressing Control + Command + F Word sometimes glitches when switching between modes. Second, go to Word > Preferences > Ribbon & Toolbar, then click Reset to restore the default layout. Third, check your display scaling under System Settings > Displays if it’s set to “More Space,” it can cause UI overlap. Fourth, make sure Word is fully updated by going to Help > Check for Updates. Fifth, if you use any add-ins (like Grammarly or Zoom), try disabling them temporarily. Lastly, restart Word or your Mac layout bugs often clear after a full reboot. Let us know how it goes. If this helps, feel free to mark the answer as accepted so others can find it too.

    Best,
    Carl

Try becoming familiar with Focus View

    [Shift+Control+Command+F to toggle if on/off]

When in Focus View move the pointer to the very top to expose Ribbon & Menu Bar, to the very bottom to display Status Bar. You also can press Option to display only Ribbon & QAT.
