I recently got a new Samsung phone and I didn't realise my photos were being backed up to OneDrive. I then got a notification saying my OneDrive was full and had no more space and I needed to delete files. I noticed they were all pictures from on my phone and I thought, well I don't need these as they are all on my phone, I didn't want them backed up to OneDrive anyway. So I deleted them. OneDrive still said storage full so I then deleted them from the recycling bin too. Happy days, my OneDrive had plenty of storage left! A couple of days later I went to view pictures in my gallery on my Samsung phone, they were all gone. I didn't realised deleting them from OneDrive would also delete them off my phone!! There are some pictures that I desperately need. please can someone help? It seems impossible to speak to a human at Microsoft :(

Hi Olivia, I'm really sorry to hear what happened that’s a tough situation. especially when those photos are important to you. Here's what you can try to recover your deleted files from OneDrive

To recover your deleted photos check OneDrive’s second stage recycle bin via the web interface look in the Trash folders of Samsung Cloud or Google Photos if your phone was syncing with them, try using a file recovery app like DiskDigger or Dr.Fone if the photos were stored locally and contact Microsoft Support to request a manual OneDrive data recovery by explaining your situation and asking if the files can be restored from server backups.

Can you confirm whether your Samsung phone was set to sync photos with OneDrive only or was it also connected to other backup services like Samsung Cloud or Google Photos at the time the photos were deleted?

    Best regards
