I wanted to change the domain of my account from hotmail.com to outlook.com.

Copilot instructed me to:

  1. create my outlook account
  2. add it to my Microsoft account
  3. delete the hotmail account
  4. restart the outlook
  5. add the hotmail account.

I did steps 1-4, and now when I try to add the hotmail domain back to my profile

I get the message the message that "this email is part of a reserved domain.

I need to reactivate my hotmail account, how do I do that?

Hi Alexandra, since your Hotmail address is flagged as part of a reserved domain, it can't be re-added directly.

If signing in or using the recovery page didn’t work, the account may be permanently deactivated.

You might need to contact Microsoft support directly for escalation. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2

    You are correct.

Contacted them and there is no way to recoup my account.

Hi Alexandra, thanks for posting here in the Microsoft community, it looks like your Hotmail address is now flagged as part of a reserved domain, which means it can't be re-added directly.

Try signing in at https://outlook.live.com using your old Hotmail credentials to check if the account is still active.

If not, recovery might be possible via Microsoft’s account recovery page. https://account.live.com/acsr

I hope this helps you out, let me know.
