I use the Edge browser exclusively. I use msn.com for my home page. When I want to comment on a story there is a "dialog box" at the top that states I am not able to comment because I am not signed into Edge. What am I doing wrong?

    Hello Raider One,

The dialog box on msn.com blocking comments because you're not signed into Edge is a common sync and personalization requirement for Microsoft's ecosystem—MSN relies on your Microsoft account (via Edge) for features like commenting, which ties into your profile, favorites, and security settings across devices. You're not doing anything wrong; it's just that MSN detects Edge but needs explicit sign-in to verify your account for those interactive elements. Signing in should resolve it immediately, and it's quick and secure. Here's how to fix it step by step.

    Quick Sign-In Steps in Edge

Open Microsoft Edge and ensure you're on your msn.com homepage.

Look for the profile icon in the top-right corner (avatar or initials). If signed out, it might show a generic person icon or "Sign in."

Click the profile icon > Select "Sign in to Microsoft Edge" or "Sign in with Microsoft."

Enter your Microsoft account email (e.g., Outlook, Hotmail, or work email) and password. If two-factor auth is on, approve via your phone or app.

Once signed in, refresh msn.com—the comment dialog should now allow input without the blocker.

If the profile icon doesn't appear or Edge prompts differently:

Click the three dots (...) menu > Settings > Profiles > Add or switch profile > Sign in.

Or, directly visit account.microsoft.com and sign in—Edge will sync this across sessions.

    Troubleshooting Common Issues

Already Signed In?: Check edge://settings/profiles—under "Your profile," verify the email matches your MSN account. If mismatched, sign out (profile icon > Sign out) and sign back in with the correct one.

Sync Enabled?: Go to edge://settings/profiles/sync > Ensure "Sync" is on and "Personal info" is toggled—this pushes your sign-in to MSN features.

Private/Incognito Mode: If using InPrivate browsing, sign-in won't persist—switch to a regular window for MSN.

Account Problems: If login fails, reset your password at account.live.com/password/reset or clear Edge cookies/cache (Settings > Privacy > Clear browsing data > Cookies and site data). Also, update Edge: Menu > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge.

Windows Integration: Since you're on Windows 11, ensure your system is signed into the same Microsoft account (Settings > Accounts > Your info)—this auto-syncs to Edge/MSN.

After signing in, try commenting on a story—it should work seamlessly, as MSN uses Edge's session for verification. This setup also unlocks other perks like personalized news and cross-device history. If the dialog persists post-sign-in or you see a specific error (e.g., "Account not recognized"), share more details like your Edge version (About Edge) for further tweaks.

    Best regards,

    Jerald Felix
