ok. just right-click on your desktop and choose display settings (or settings, system, display)
You will see something like this:
Just arrange 1 and 2 to the actual positions. Drag them. Click apply.

2025-10-27T21:22:47.3133333+00:00 I still have the problem that windows thinks the larger monitor is the surface pro and the smaller one the Asus display - the resolutions are not correct.

2025-10-27T18:49:14.7666667+00:00 The monitors are now correctly placed, but the resolution for each is misidentified. The small Surface Pro Monitor is defined as 2880 x 1920 and the large Asus Monitor is defined as 1920 x 1080. I have no way to change that.

2025-10-28T01:47:27.31+00:00 MX279H is FHD monitor (1920x1080) - https://www.asus.com/us/displays-desktops/monitors/designo/designo-mx279h/. Surface Pro resulution is 2880x1920. Windows shows resolution, not actual size of the monitor.

2025-10-27T16:59:03.6733333+00:00 Both monitors are found. The system misidentifies the location and identification of both monitors. ie small monitor is id's as the large one. The large is identified as small. The physical location is backward. The extend displays only functions if I move the elements backwards. So the monitor to my right I can only access by moving the curser on my small surface pro to the left.
