    Hi Ken,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your RDP password not working. If your Remote Desktop Protocol password isn't working, it's probably because of old saved info, a password change, or network problems.

    Here's how to fix it:

    1. Update or Delete Saved Info

Old saved info on your computer is a common cause.

    • Open Remote Desktop Connection on your computer.
    • Click Show Options.
    • Go to the General tab.
    • In Logon settings, check the username and click Edit to enter your current password and save it.
    • Or, delete the saved info:
    • Open Credential Manager in the Control Panel.
    • Select Windows Credentials (or Web Credentials).
    • Find the entry for the Surface Pro, expand it, and click Remove.
    1. Log in on the Surface Pro with the Password

If you use a Microsoft account and usually use a PIN to sign in on the Surface Pro, Windows might not have the new password saved locally for RDP.

    • Go to the Surface Pro and sign out.
    • Sign back in, but select Sign-in options and use your Microsoft account password instead of the PIN.
    • After signing in, try the RDP from your computer again.
    1. Check the User Info

Check for typos, make sure caps lock is off, and that the password is right.

Make sure the username is right. For local accounts, use .\username or localhost\username. For Microsoft accounts, using the full email address sometimes works.

    1. Check the Account Status and Permissions

Make sure your account hasn't been locked because of too many wrong tries.

Check that your account can log on remotely. On the Surface Pro, go to Settings > System > Remote Desktop, make sure it's on, and click Select users that can remotely access this PC to check your user is listed.

    1. Check for Updates or Network Problems

Sometimes, a Windows update can cause RDP problems. Make sure both devices are updated.

If the problem continues, try clearing the DNS cache on your computer by opening Command Prompt and running ipconfig /flushdns. You can also try connecting by using the Surface Pro's IP address instead of its name to check for DNS problems.

Let me know what results you get.

    Kind regards,

    Rez

    Accepted
