I need help saving a word document to my MacBook Pro. Document file. Why is it only letting me save it to my download? I’ve been using Word for years, but now am having trouble saving documents. I would like to save it to my iCloud Drive. Thank you. Ps. I am 71 and not all that tech savvy

In the Save or Save As dialog click the button labeled On My Mac then navigate to the Documents folder — it should be listed in the dialog window's Sidebar.

Saving to iCloud is not a good idea. iCloud is built to support live editing of Apple's Keynote, Pages and Numbers. It is not engineered for live editing of Microsoft Office files. You will eventually get document corruption (loss of pictures from documents is a common complaint).

iCloud is safe for storage and transfer of Office files. Consider editing your files on your hard disk (Bob has posted the On My Mac location you should look for), then upload them to iCloud when they are complete.
