Microsoft 365 Family Renew Stacking Up

May I ask for clarification? If I purchase 5 Microsoft 365 Family keys, will that be equivalent to 5 years of subscription? For example, if my current subscription ends on December 12, 2025, and I activate one key, will it be extended to 2026? And if I activate another one after that, will it extend further to 2027, and so on? I recently found a discounted price and I want to buy 5 keys.

Hello Paul, thanks for posting this in our community.

Based on this article, What happens if I add another Microsoft 365 for home subscription to my account? Microsoft does allow stacking of Microsoft 365 Family subscription keys, but with some important limitations.

You can extend your subscription for up to 5 years on a single account. So yes, if you purchase five separate 1-year keys and redeem them one after another, your subscription will be extended by five years from the current expiration date.

For example, if your current expiration is December 12, 2025, redeeming one key will extend it to December 12, 2026. Redeeming another will push it to December 12, 2027, and so on, up to December 12, 2030.

You don’t need to wait until your current subscription expires. You can redeem all five keys now, and the system will automatically extend your subscription accordingly.

Hope this clarifies things.

Kind regards,

John Oli
