I chair a committee meeting that often lasts 2 hours. Will the free version of Teams accommodate that?

Hello Patty Hutton, thanks for posting this in our community.

To answer your question directly: no, the free version of Microsoft Teams does not support meetings longer than 60 minutes. If your committee meetings typically last 2 hours, you would need to restart the meeting after the first hour. The good news is there’s no cooldown period, so you can immediately start a new session once the first one ends. Group meetings in the free version are limited to 60 minutes per session.

    Kind regards,

    John Oli

The free version of Microsoft Teams allows meetings to last up to 60 minutes. Since your committee meeting often lasts 2 hours, the free version would not accommodate that duration. You may need to consider upgrading to a paid version of Teams to support longer meetings.

Teams Free without Microsoft 365 subscription supports on 60 minutes meetings. However, Teams Free with Microsoft 365 Personal, Family or Premium subscription supports 30 hours meetings.

Note also that meeting duration limitations apply only to group meetings. Vide/audio calls with only 2 participants don't have any duration limit.
