Hi,

Does anyone know how to configure my HP Pavilion 14 Laptop, 12th Gen, to turn on automatically when opening the lid? By default, it does nothing when opening the lid.

I try to configure the power plan many times, but it does not work.

Please help.

Ch. Harsha

    Hello,

For most HP Pavilion models, the “power on when lid is opened” behavior depends on whether the feature is supported at the firmware/BIOS level. It cannot be enabled through Windows power options alone.

You can boot your HP into BIOS and see if you have an option in BIOS to set it. If you don't see it in BIOS at all, then it can mean that the firmware doesn't support such.

To configure your HP Pavilion 14 Laptop to turn on automatically when opening the lid, you need to adjust the power settings related to the lid open wake action. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Access Power Settings: Go to the Control Panel and navigate to Power Options.
    2. Change Plan Settings: Select the power plan you are using and click on "Change plan settings."
    3. Change Advanced Power Settings: Click on "Change advanced power settings."
    4. Locate Lid Open Action: In the advanced settings, look for the "Button settings" section and find the "Lid open wake action" setting.
    5. Set Action: Change the setting to "Turn on the display" (value 1) to ensure that the display turns on when the lid is opened.

If your laptop still does not turn on when opening the lid after making these changes, it may be due to hardware limitations or specific firmware settings that prevent this functionality. Some laptops do not support waking from lid open by default, and you may need to check your BIOS settings for any options related to lid behavior.
