Outcomes that are irrelevant or not aligned with the user's query, often requiring refinement of search terms.
Hi kristin,
This issue often appears after major updates to Windows 11 (25H2) and Edge. Here’s what’s likely going on:
Update-related bug: The latest Windows and Edge updates changed how Bing integrates with browser features. Some users report Bing freezing or failing after these updates.
Profile or extension conflicts: Even after clearing cache, a corrupted profile or extension can block Bing scripts.
DNS or network filtering: Bing relies on Microsoft endpoints. If DNS settings or security software interfere, Bing may hang while other engines work.
Edge-specific integration: Bing is tied to features like sidebar and Copilot. If those components fail after an update, Bing search can freeze.
This isn’t widely documented yet because it’s tied to recent builds and Microsoft hasn’t published an official fix.
What you can do now is:
Update Edge and Windows fully Go to Settings → Windows Update and install all patches. In Edge, check Help & Feedback → About Microsoft Edge.
Try Bing in InPrivate mode If it works there, an extension or cached data is interfering. Disable extensions under edge://extensions.
Reset Edge completely Go to Settings → Reset settings → Restore settings to their default values. This rebuilds the profile without reinstalling.
Test Bing outside the browser Use Windows Search or Bing.com in another browser profile. If it still freezes, the issue is likely linked to Microsoft’s services or the update.
Optional workaround Until Microsoft releases a fix, you can set another search engine as default in Edge under Settings → Privacy, search, and services.
Let me know how itgoes, Happy to help!
