Activation of MS-Office fails

My MS-Office product key was working. I only had it installed on one PC (product key supports up to 3 devices). But now it requests that I enter it again. When I enter the key, the response is: "Your installation cannot be activated because you have activated up to the limit of your Multiple Activation Key. Consult your administrator for further help". How to fix this?

To resolve the issue where your MS-Office installation cannot be activated because it states that you have reached the limit of your Multiple Activation Key (MAK), you can try the following steps:

    1. Remove Unused Devices: Since your product key supports activation on multiple devices, check if there are any unused devices that are still activated with your key. You can manage your activations by signing into your Microsoft account and removing any devices that are no longer in use.
    2. Check Microsoft Entra ID: If you are using a Microsoft 365 account, go to the Microsoft 365 admin center, select Microsoft Entra ID, and check the list of devices associated with your account. Remove any unnecessary devices from the list.
    3. Reset Microsoft 365 Activation State: You can reset the activation state for Microsoft 365 Apps. This may help in resolving activation issues.
    4. Consult Your Administrator: If you are part of an organization, consult your administrator for further assistance, as they may have additional tools or permissions to help manage activations.
    5. Reinstall Office: As a last resort, you may consider uninstalling and then reinstalling Office, ensuring that you are using the correct version that corresponds to your product key.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the activation issue with your MS-Office installation.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

If you’ve used this key on other PCs before (or reinstalled Office), it might count toward the limit. You can sign in to your Microsoft account at https://account.microsoft.com/services and see which devices have Office linked to your account. Removing any old devices you no longer use can free up a slot.

After ensuring the device limit isn’t exceeded, try signing in with your Microsoft account in Office instead of entering the key manually. Modern Office installations often activate through your account rather than the key.

If the issue persists, please provide more details about the issue.
