Like the title says. Microphone basically stops working. I can't even troubleshoot properly because the microphone settings refuse to open. Also the privacy settings also refuse to open. My only fix for now is doing a system restore to before the update and everything works fine. I've stopped updates for now because I'm tired of doing this.

Hi,

Open the command prompt and run the command:

reg.exe add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CapabilityAccessManager\ConsentStore\location" /v Value /d Allow /f ,

Restart your computer and test.

If your microphone stops working after a Windows 11 update, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can consider:

    1. Check for Driver Updates: Ensure that your audio drivers are up to date. You can do this by checking for Windows updates, as updated drivers are often included in these updates. If your device still encounters issues after updating, you may need to contact your device manufacturer for specific drivers.
    2. Power Supply and Connections: If you are using external audio peripherals, make sure that they are powered on and properly connected. Check the USB cable for any faults and consider reseating or replacing it if necessary.
    3. Firmware Issues: Sometimes, a recent firmware update might not complete correctly. Try resetting the power on your audio device or contacting the manufacturer to ensure it is running the latest firmware.
    4. USB Extenders: If you are using USB extenders, try to avoid them as they can cause issues with audio devices. If necessary, ensure that the extender is compatible with your audio peripheral.
    5. System Restore: As you've mentioned, performing a system restore to a point before the update can temporarily resolve the issue. However, it's advisable to keep your system updated for security and performance improvements.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to wait for a subsequent update that addresses the problem or seek further assistance from Microsoft support.
