The issue usually happens because the file is still opening in Protected View or some active content like macros and add-ins is blocked by security settings.
Let’s start with a few quick checks: open PowerPoint, go to File then click Options then Trust Center then click Trust Center Settings, and make sure Protected View is turned off for files from the internet.
Also check that macros and ActiveX controls are enabled if your presentation uses them.
After that, confirm the file isn’t in Compatibility Mode, if it says so at the top, click Convert to update it to .pptx. If these steps don’t help, can you tell me if the file is stored locally or on SharePoint/OneDrive?
