I cannot run AutoCAD 2006 on Windows 11 Pro. The AutoCAD screen appears but then this error:

FATAL ERROR: Hung application. Can't keep executable running.

C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoCAD LT 2006\AcTp.arx

Tried restart, run as Admin, activation, etc.

That's the most reliable method, run it on an old PC with Win XP.

Thanks for sharing the details, Terry! However, AutoCAD 2006 is not compatible with Windows 10/11. It just won't run properly on modern systems.

What you can try is to install Windows 11 Sandbox, then install AutoCAD 2006 inside it. That's the easiest way, but if you want the best method, use a virtual machine:

VMware Player or VirtualBox → Install Windows XP SP3 32-bit → Install AutoCAD 2006 → Works 100%, no crashes.

Apart from the workarounds, even if you get it open, many built-in features won't work, AutoCAD 2006 is too old for Windows 11.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly
