I am updating old manuals with a new formatting. I may import partial document into new documents. I know how to update Styles, but I want to view all font styles being used in a document so I can find/replace them with the new formatting.

To see which styles are used in your document, open the Styles Pane (Alt + Ctrl + Shift + S), click on the Options button and set the Select styles to show dropdown to In use.

Using Home>Find>Advanced Find, click on the More button, then on Format>Style to find text by style.

In addition to the suggestions you already received, you can display the style area in Draft view which gives you an overview of the styles that are applied to text paragraphs.

On the View tab, click Draft. To display the style area, specify a style area width at File > Options > Advanced.

To view all font styles being used in a document, you can utilize the Find object in Microsoft Word. This object allows you to search for specific text, formatting, or styles throughout the document. By looping through the document with the Find object, you can identify the styles applied to different sections of text.

Here’s a general approach to achieve this:

    1. Use the Find object to search for text in the document.
    2. Check the formatting and style properties of the found text.
    3. Collect and list all unique styles used in the document.
    4. Once you have identified the styles, you can proceed to replace them with your new formatting.

This method will help you systematically find all font styles and make necessary updates as you work on your manuals.
