Azure Nonprofit Sponsorship – New $2000 grant not applied to existing subscription, and Support portal errors

Hello,

I am having a critical issue with my Azure Nonprofit Sponsorship grant and I cannot open a support request from the Azure Portal due to errors.

We previously used a $2000 Azure sponsorship under:

Microsoft Azure Sponsorship

Subscription IDs:

  • <PII Removed>
  • <PII Removed>

Last month, we renewed our grant and received a new $2000 credit under:

Azure non-profit sponsorship credit

Azure subscription 1

Subscription ID: <PII Removed>

However, all of our existing billable resources in resource group “rg-church-ai” are still attached to the old sponsorship subscriptions, and they cannot be moved to the new subscription. The move validation fails for all AI-related resources (Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, Storage, NSG, SSH keys, etc.).

In addition, I am unable to create a support request in the Azure Portal. The support experience crashes with a TypeError:

“Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'error')”

(Full JSON error from the browser console is attached below.)

Because of this, I cannot contact Azure Billing Support from the portal.

Request:

  • Please help route this issue to Azure Billing / Nonprofit Sponsorship support.
  • I need to have my existing resources billed against the new $2000 nonprofit sponsorship subscription, or have the credit moved so that we don’t run out of balance on the old sponsorship.

Thank you.

Tom Tanemori

It is really frustrated because nobody picks up my tickets.

I closed the first two tickets because nobody responded. The third one is opened, and I am still waiting for reply.

I feel like there is a technical issue on Microsoft because no human responded after the initial automatic acknowledgment email. Is it happening to only my account?

    Hello Tom Tanemori,

We understand that you're facing an issue with your Azure Nonprofit Sponsorship grant and you are unable to create the support request.

Unfortunately, Azure Sponsorship credits typically get applied to the subscription they were created under and transferring them after the fact isn't something that can be done directly through the Azure portal.

You can go to Azure portal > Search for Help + Support or try to access support blade directly https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade/~/overviewsee of you can be able to access. If you still facing the issue to access the support page, please let us know.

If you are able to access support request page, you can follow the below step to create support requests:

Here are the steps you can follow to create support requests:

    • Go to Azure portal > Search for Help + Support or https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade/~/overview
    •  Click on Create a Support Request
    • On right-side panel, enter Subscription and click Go > select the issue with "Subscription Management" > select your Subscription > select Sponsorship request click Next.
    • click on the Create support request on top of the panel. User's image
    • Select the Issue type as Subscription Management and, select the summary, problem type and problem subtype as below > click on the Next__.__ User's image
    • Do not click on any recommendation solution/article, instead click on the Return to support request then click Next. retun AP
    • Fill out all the required information and provide a clear description of your issue and click Next.
    • Review and create as submit the support request.

Kindly check the below documentation for more details: How to create an Azure support request - Azure supportability | Microsoft Learn

Hope this helps! If you encounter any issues, please let us now. thanks
