    Hello Alison,

Thank you for posting question on Microsoft Windows Forum.

Based on your query of how to make the text stop auto correcting. Well! The exact way to turn off auto-correct depends on the device or app you are using.

You can try the following suggestions.

    1.For Windows 10/11.

    • Navigate to the following path:
    • Settings > Time & Language > Typing (on Windows 10 it is usually Devices > Typing).
    • Toggle OFF "Autocorrect misspelled words".
    • User's image

    2.For Microsoft Word / Outlook.

    • In the app, navigate to the following path:
    • File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options.
    • Uncheck "Replace text as you type".

    3.Web Browsers (Chrome/Edge).

    • Go to the browser settings and search for "Spell check". Turn off "Enhanced spell check" or basic spell check if it is interfering.

    4.Grammarly / Writing Extensions.

    • If you have a writing assistant installed, it will override everything. You need to disable the extension or turn off its auto-correct feature in its specific settings menu.

Hope the above information is helpful! If it is. Free feel to hit "Accepted" for benefitting others in community having the same issue too.

To stop the text from auto-correcting, you can disable the autocorrect feature in your Windows settings. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open Settings: Go to the Start menu and select Settings.
    2. Navigate to Devices: Click on Devices and then select Typing from the left sidebar.
    3. Turn Off Autocorrect: Look for the option that says Autocorrect misspelled words and toggle it off. This will prevent Windows from automatically correcting your typed words.

If you are managing devices through a Group Policy, you can also disable this feature using the policy setting TurnOffAutocorrectMisspelledWords. When this policy is enabled, it locks the autocorrect option to not correct misspelled words.

Make sure to check if your version of Windows supports this setting as it may vary depending on the version you are using.
