When did “user-friendly” stop being a priority? Is your new version of Outlook for programmers or every-day users?

I am writing to express my deep frustration with the newest Outlook interface and updates. It is extremely user-unfriendly, especially for seniors and for anyone who is not a tech-savvy programmer.

It seems the new, younger developers—who instinctively know how to move around a computer—did not design this update through the lens of everyday users. Basic features have been moved, hidden, or removed entirely, and there is no clear path to switch back to the functional version.

This is not innovation; it’s a barrier. Outlook has always served a broad audience, yet this redesign feels built exclusively for those who already understand advanced workflows. Many people, especially seniors, are left confused, unable to navigate, and without guidance.

A product used by millions must be built with all users in mind—not just programmers. I urge you to reconsider this update, restore essential functionality, and provide a straightforward option to return to the classic interface.

    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you’re experiencing. I completely understand your frustration, many people have raised similar concerns about the new Outlook interface. The recent changes have moved or removed familiar features, which makes it harder for those who aren’t tech-savvy to adjust.

Here’s what you can try to make things easier. In some versions, there’s an option to switch back to Classic Outlook. Look for it in the top-right corner or under Settings → General → Outlook version. If it’s available, you can revert right away.

If that option isn’t there, using the Outlook desktop app might help. It still keeps much of the older layout and feels more familiar. You can also customize the ribbon and navigation to bring back missing buttons. For a simpler view, go to Settings → View all Outlook settings → General → Accessibility.

Finally, if these changes don’t work for you, I recommend sending feedback directly to Microsoft. You can do this by clicking Help → Feedback in Outlook. They do monitor user input when making design decisions.

I hope this clears things up. If you need more guidance, feel free to post back.

    Regards,

    Edward

Not true. You removed the toggle to switch back to classic and the instructions on how to get back to the old version are erroneous. I would like to hear from other new version users to find out if they agree with me.
