How do I fix the date of birth on my account?

I inadvertantly created a new account for my grand-daughter (age 7). Now MY account shows the date of birth as 2018 and I cannot fix it. I want to close my account and create a new CORRECT one, but I don't want to loose all of my data, ie, OneDrive, contacts, email, Microsoft 365 with Office, etc. How do I do this? I have tried ALL of the "guidance" from you to no avail.

To fix the date of birth on your Microsoft account, you typically need to update your account information directly through the Microsoft account settings. However, if you are unable to do this due to the account being incorrectly set up for your granddaughter, you may need to take a few steps:

    1. Sign in to your Microsoft account: Go to the Microsoft account page and log in with your credentials.
    2. Access your profile: Navigate to the "Your info" section where you can view and edit your personal information, including your date of birth.
    3. Update your date of birth: If the option is available, change your date of birth to the correct one. If you cannot change it, you may need to contact Microsoft support for assistance.
    4. Backup your data: Before closing your account, ensure that all your data (OneDrive files, emails, contacts, etc.) is backed up. You can do this by downloading files from OneDrive and exporting contacts and emails from Outlook.
    5. Close your account: If you still wish to close your account after backing up your data, follow the instructions provided by Microsoft for account closure.
    6. Create a new account: After closing the old account, you can create a new account with the correct information.

If you encounter issues during this process, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance, especially regarding data recovery and account management.

    Hello,

I’m not exactly sure how your account now suddenly has your granddaughter’s date of birth set, if you made her account separately and yours just happened to be logged I don’t see how it could have merged the two accounts and now your account is tagged as a child’s. Please check if its just your granddaughters account logged into your computer and yours was kicked out due to the login.

Let me know more when you can,

    JC
