A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Hello! When I migrate local data to OneDrive, I copy the data to Outlook (I don't move it). I copy the smaller folders first, and for the larger folders I try to divide them into stages. This way I avoid synchronization problems. You can do the same to copy data from OneDrive to your local data.
- If OneDrive is installed and synchronized on your computer, open OneDrive > View and note the smaller folders > Copy them to your SSD (recommended, as it's faster than a flash drive).
- Select a folder, or several folders, and press ALT + ENTER > View "Size", and ignore "Size on disk".
- Size: Size of data that is in the cloud
- Size on disk: Size of data that is saved locally (HDD, SSD, Flash Drive, etc.)
- Click on the Cloud icon > View the synchronization status > Wait for it to fully synchronize.
- Next, copy the larger folders and monitor the synchronization status.
- When you have copied all the desired folders, select all the folders on your SSD > ALT + ENTER > View and note the Size on Disk, Number of Folders and Files.
- Select all the copied folders in OneDrive > ALT + ENTER > View and note the Size, Number of Folders and Files.
- Compare the Size and Number of Files and Folders between OneDrive and SSD. If all your files have been copied, you are safe to delete the data on OneDrive to free up space.
I understand you want to free up space and save money. But don't forget to back up your files. Electronic devices are fallible and can burn out.
