    If your external cd/dvd drive is "plug and play"

    • Plug the drive into a USB port (USB-A or USB-C depending on your model).
    • Most drives require two USB plugs (power + data) or a Y-cable. If yours has two, plug both.
    • Windows 11 should automatically recognize it—no drivers needed in most cases.

    You should see the drive appear in:

    File Explorer >This PC (usually as DVD Drive (D:) or similar)
