Windows 11 Version 25H2 crashes often

My computer recently has been crashing and freezing very often, sometimes right after restarting and sometimes after several hours of use. It sometimes has a black screen with errors including but not limited to HYPERVISOR_ERROR and DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER. Sometimes programs crash/close suddenly as well.

The computer is a Lenovo Legion 7 16IRX9. I have updated all graphics drivers to the best of my knowledge. I had been using it with no issues for almost a year, I am not sure whether it is the recent Windows 11 update or something else.

O.P. indicates that the crashes began after a Windows 11 update. Yet, microsoft insists on blaming other software, drivers, or hardware for the problems. It's never microsoft's fault. Why can't microsoft ever admit that, perhaps, it's them that caused the problem? We're not going to sue you (we are not the typical litigation-hungry US client, we're simply computer users somewhere outside the US who want their machine to keep working). Come on microsoft, grow up and admit that you are fallible, like all of us.

I've got the same problem: intermittent black screen, mouse pointer freezing for a second, programs (which I refuse to call apps) lagging - all on a modest, but current Lenovo system with Windows 11, 25H2. By way of contrast, I'm running the latest Linux Mint on a laptop dating back to 2015 which is updated regularly and continues to provide sterling service. I'm tempted to go Linux on my Intel i5-11400 2.60GHz 32GB RAM 1 GB graphics card 943 GB storage desktop.

Your minidump files indicate a driver associated to the Intel processor is causing your system to crash.

Go to the support page for your laptop on the Lenovo website, then from there, download and install the version of Intel Chipset drivers they recommend and while there, if you do not have your drive encrypted with Bitlocker, check for any BIOS update that may need to be installed

Crashes and freezes in Windows 11, especially after a recent update, can be caused by various issues, including driver incompatibilities or system bugs. The errors you mentioned, such as HYPERVISOR_ERROR and DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER, suggest potential problems with drivers or system configurations.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your system is fully updated. Sometimes, subsequent updates can resolve issues introduced in earlier versions.
    2. Driver Updates: Since you mentioned updating graphics drivers, also check for updates for other critical drivers, including chipset and network drivers. Use the manufacturer's website for the latest versions.
    3. Uninstall Recent Updates: If the crashes started after a specific Windows update, consider uninstalling that update to see if it resolves the issue.
    4. Run System Diagnostics: Use built-in tools like Windows Memory Diagnostic or check the health of your hard drive using CHKDSK to rule out hardware issues.
    5. Check for Software Conflicts: Sometimes, third-party applications can conflict with system processes. Try booting into Safe Mode to see if the crashes persist. If they do not, a recently installed application may be the culprit.
    6. Analyze Minidump Files: If you have access to the minidump files, analyzing them can provide insights into the specific drivers or processes causing the crashes.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support or Lenovo Support for further assistance, especially if the issue is related to hardware compatibility.
