Hello Thinus van As,
The cleanest way to deal with this is to adjust the registry so that File Explorer no longer displays that duplicate entry. The specific keys are under:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace
Within those, you’ll find GUIDs that correspond to the OneDrive for Business shortcut. Removing or disabling the relevant entry will hide the extra icon without uninstalling OneDrive itself. Because registry edits can be sensitive, I recommend exporting a backup first, then carefully removing only the entry tied to the unwanted icon.
Another option is to use Group Policy or a local policy tweak to hide the OneDrive for Business namespace object. This is safer in managed environments, as it avoids manual registry edits and ensures the change persists across updates.
I hope this helps,
