    Hi Samuel,

I understand the frustration when things don't go as planned. Outlook usually struggles to add a Gmail account if the Google account settings block access. This often happens when IMAP isn't on in Gmail, or if you have two-step verification and need an app password.

Here's what to do: First, go to your Gmail settings and ensure IMAP is on under Forwarding and POP/IMAP. If you use two-step verification, make an app password in your Google account and use that in Outlook instead of your normal password. Check that you're adding it as an IMAP account, not POP.

Do you have two-step verification on and is IMAP enabled?

To add a Gmail account to Outlook, you need to ensure that you have prepared your Gmail account properly. Here are the steps to follow:

    1. Enable IMAP in Gmail:
      • Sign in to your Gmail account using a supported browser.
      • Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select Settings.
      • Go to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
      • Make sure Enable IMAP is selected and then click Save Changes.
    2. Turn on 2-Step Verification:
      • Go to your Google Account settings and navigate to the Security section.
      • Enable 2-Step Verification.
    3. Create an App Password:
      • After enabling 2-Step Verification, go back to the Security section of your Google Account.
      • Under Signing in to Google, find App passwords and create a new app password for Outlook.
      • Note this password as you will need it to connect your Gmail account to Outlook.
    4. Add your Gmail account to Outlook:
      • Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
      • Enter your Gmail address and when prompted for a password, use the app password you generated earlier instead of your Gmail password.

Following these steps should allow you to successfully add your Gmail account to Outlook. If you encounter any errors, ensure that IMAP is enabled and that you are using the correct app password.
