Best Buy sold me a 2yr subscription to Microsoft 365 and office for personal when my current subscription is family. What is the difference and if I stay with this how do I activate when current subscription is up? This is very confusing and alarming that they can change this without me knowing. I would like to talk to a human

The Microsoft 365 Family version allows you to share your Microsoft 365 subscription with up to 5 family members, the Microsoft Personal subscription does not allow you to share your Office subscription with other family members.

Did Best Buy provide you with a key code card for that subscription, or has that already been added to your Microsoft account online?

If they only provided you with the Microsoft 365 key code card, they should be able to take that back and provide you with the Family subscription version, provided the card has not been used.

If the subscription has already been added to your Microsoft account, then you will need to contact Microsoft Support directly to ask them if it is possible to pay the difference between the Personal and Family subscriptions so your family members do not loose access to Office, try using this method to contact their support.

    Go to this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

    Select Microsoft 365

    Click 'Get Home Support'.

In the box provided, type billing.

Press Enter, then on the next page, scroll down and click 'Sign in to Contact Support'.

Navigate to Microsoft 365 and Office - Manage my Subscription.

Select the 'Chat with support agent in web browser' option

To change your Microsoft 365 subscription back from Personal to Family, you will need to manage your subscription through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Log in to the Microsoft 365 admin center: Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center and sign in with your account.
    2. Manage your subscriptions: Navigate to the Billing section and select Your products. Here, you can see your current subscriptions.
    3. Change your subscription: If you want to switch back to a Family plan, you may need to cancel the Personal subscription and then purchase the Family plan again.
    4. Activation for next year: When your current subscription ends, you can activate the new Family subscription by following the prompts during the purchase process.

If you are confused or need further assistance, it may be best to contact Microsoft support directly for help with your specific situation. They can provide guidance tailored to your account and subscription details.
