When it says on personal computer, managed by your organization and there is a policy (LocalNetworkAccessAllowedForUrls). Does this mean they can access my entire browsing history?

If you use a org-issued msft 365 account, you might see a popup when initially signing into the app that asked if you allow the organization to access your settings. If you clicked "yes" without much thought, this action enrolled your device in your organization's Intune management.

This doesn't mean they can spy on or access your data, but it does allow them to enforce group policies to enhance your device's security. For instance, they might deploy BitLocker, require a more complex PIN, or ensure that your security updates are always current.

The rationale is that using the organization's Microsoft 365 apps likely involves working on documents that are property of the organization. In cases such as businesses that need to comply strictly with HIPAA policies, their IT departments can ensure that these devices are secured, protecting them in case they fall into the wrong hands.

If you don't want this, you can go to your Windows Settings > Accounts > Access Work or School (note, it is the briefcase icon, not the envelope icon). Then see if the organization email address is still listed? If so, click on it and then disconnect it.

    Hi Anki,

Thank you for sharing your question. Seeing Managed by your org on your PC usually means a setting was put in place using Windows or your browser. Think of it like a rule set by Group Policy or a setup file.

In your case, LocalNetworkAccessAllowedForUrls is a rule that says which websites can get to stuff on your local network, like printers or internal websites.

Just because you see that doesn't mean someone is watching everything you do online. This specific rule is about network access, not keeping tabs on you. That being said, if your device is part of a company or school system (like Microsoft Intune), whoever runs that system could put other rules in place to watch or record what you do. On your own computer, this usually happens if you logged in with a work or school account, or if you installed something that added those kinds of management rules.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    Noel

When a personal computer is labeled as "managed by your organization," it typically means that the organization has certain policies and controls in place to manage the device and its access to organizational resources. However, regarding your browsing history, organizations generally cannot access your entire browsing history on personal devices unless specific monitoring tools or policies are implemented that allow for such access.

In the context of the LocalNetworkAccessAllowedForUrls policy, this policy specifically relates to network access permissions for URLs and does not imply that the organization can view your entire browsing history. Organizations can see certain device information and may have visibility into specific activities related to their managed applications, but personal browsing history (like websites visited) is typically not accessible unless explicitly stated in the organization's policies.

For more detailed information about what data organizations can and cannot see when a device is managed, you can refer to the relevant documentation from Microsoft.
