My mouse last year had a problem that it did not work with Windows UI and it randomly hit scroll wheel and scrolled in windows, I thought I fixed it but it came back. And if it didn´t work in window I hit scrollwheel myself and it works in that specific window. Anyone know why is that happening?

    Hi skuidvrd,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm glad to see from the comments that you've managed to resolve the problem this time and get your device working again. Given that this issue has re-arisen before, I've outlined some additional solutions you can try if it reappears in the future.

1 - Test the mouse on another PC

    • Connect the mouse to a different Windows device and observe if the scroll wheel behavior persists.
    • If it does, the issue is likely hardware-related, which may require replacing the mouse.

    2 - Reinstall mouse drivers

    • Open Device Manager > Expand Mice and other pointing devices > Right-click your mouse > Uninstall.
    • Disconnect and reconnect the mouse to reinstall the driver.

3 - If the issue only occurs in specific apps or windows, it may be related to focus handling or scroll event conflicts. You can also try:

    • Running Windows in Safe Mode to test basic input behavior.
    • Creating a new user profile to rule out profile-specific settings.

Let me know if you'd like help testing the mouse behavior in Safe Mode or using any tools. If the issue persists, it could be very helpful for further analysis if you can provide additional information, such as when the problem first appeared (e.g., after an update or using a specific app).

    Warm Regards,
