Hello

I’ve been trying to install my newly purchased Microsoft Office 365 personal subscription on my iPad. It prompts me to install but then either times out during the install or completes the install but then does not appear on my desktop or provide any further prompts. How does this work?

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

On an iPad, Microsoft 365 doesn’t install as one single “Office” app. Instead, you install the individual apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) from the App Store, and your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription unlocks the premium features once you sign in.

Here are a few things I recommend trying:

  • Restart your iPad > This clears temporary install glitches that can cause time-outs.
  • Check available storage > Go to Settings > General > iPad Storage and make sure you have enough free space. Low storage can cause installs to fail silently.
  • Install directly from the App Store > Open the App Store and search for Microsoft Word (or Excel/PowerPoint). > Install at least one app first, then open it and sign in with the same Microsoft account you used to purchase Microsoft 365 Personal.

If issue still persists please let me know.

Click "Add comment" to let me know.

John J.D.
