Exit Word. Restart your computer. If the issue remains, locate the *.docx file in File Explorer, right-click the document icon and choose Properties. Do you see an option to Unblock? In that case, choose that option, and then click Apply. Are you able to open the document for editing now and save as PDF?

If your Word document cannot be converted to a PDF because the system indicates that it is locked, it could be due to several reasons:

    1. File Protection: The document may be intentionally protected, preventing any modifications or conversions. You will need to remove the protection to proceed with the conversion.
    2. File Locking by Another Process: If another application is using the document, it may be locked for editing. Ensure that no other programs are accessing the file.
    3. Write Protection: If the file is on a write-protected disk or the file itself is marked as read-only, you will need to change these settings to allow conversion.

Check these factors to resolve the issue and successfully convert your document to PDF.
