Need an ISO for Windows 10 LTSC 2021 (version 21H2, Build 19044)

I'm having an issue where the installation of .NET Framework 3.5 keeps failing for my Windows 10 LTSC 2021 (version 21H2, build 19044). I have tried to find a way to download the ISO from Microsoft but cannot find one. Looks like they are only allowing the download of the last version. Is there a way of getting an older ISO from Microsoft?

To obtain an ISO for Windows 10 LTSC 2021 (version 21H2, Build 19044), you typically need to access the Volume License Service Center (VLSC) if you have a volume licensing agreement with Microsoft. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Access the Volume License Service Center (VLSC): Go to the VLSC website and sign in with your Windows Live ID.
    2. Navigate to Downloads: Once signed in, select Downloads > Licensed Downloads and search for your product.
    3. Download Settings: Choose your download settings, including language and connection speed, and then select Continue Download.
    4. Select Download Method: You can choose to download using either the Download Manager or a web browser.
    5. Save the ISO: After the download is complete, you will have the ISO file saved on your hard disk.
    6. Burn the ISO: You can then burn the ISO file to a CD or DVD for installation.

If you do not have access to VLSC, you may need to contact Microsoft support or your organization's IT department for assistance in obtaining the ISO.

    Hi George Gee

I appreciate the detailed context you provided regarding the .NET Framework 3.5 installation issue. Windows 10 LTSC 2021 (21H2, build 19044) requires the matching LTSC installation media when enabling optional features like .NET 3.5, so your instinct to look for the correct ISO is absolutely on the right track. Microsoft currently only provides public downloads for the latest Windows 10 releases, which is why you’re not seeing the LTSC 2021 ISO available on the standard download pages. Older LTSC ISOs, including the 2021 release, are accessible only through Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) or Visual Studio (MSDN) subscriptions. If your organization has access to either of these portals, you should be able to download the exact LTSC 2021 ISO needed.

Once you have the correct ISO, you can mount it and enable .NET Framework 3.5 using DISM or the “Turn Windows features on or off” dialog, and it should complete without errors. If you don’t have access to VLSC or MSDN, your licensing administrator may need to retrieve the media on your behalf. I’m happy to guide you through the DISM command or help verify the ISO version once you obtain it.

Please feel free to share any error codes you’re seeing during installation, and I'm always here to help you. And if this information helps resolve your issue, I’d appreciate it if you could click “Accept Answer” so others can benefit from it as well 🙂
