The December 2025 security patch caused problems with MSMQ.

• Windows 10 version 22H2: KB5071546

• Windows Server 2022: KB5071547

• Windows Server 2019: KB5071544

• Windows Server 2016: KB5071543

After applying the above patches, problems with MSMQ occurred, causing our company's web application to stop working.

(Our company's web application uses MSMQ.)

We have received complaints from customers using the web application. This requires immediate action.

When will the patch to address the problems with MSMQ be released?

    Hi Hara,Hiroyuki(原博幸),

Microsoft is currently investigating the issue. At this stage, there isn’t a publicly committed release date for the fix yet, but the issue is under active investigation and a corrective update is expected rather than deferred to a long-term servicing cycle.

In the meantime, I think Microsoft Support can provide validated mitigation guidance based on your specific MSMQ and IIS configuration, which many customers are using to stabilize their environments while the fix is being finalized. I strongly recommend opening a support ticket if you haven’t already.

If this response helps clarify the situation and next steps, please feel free to mark it as Accept Answer so others can benefit as well.

    Jason.

The December 2025 security updates have indeed caused issues with the Message Queuing (MSMQ) functionality across various versions of Windows, including Windows 10 version 22H2 and Windows Server versions 2019 and 2016. Users have reported symptoms such as inactive MSMQ queues, IIS sites failing with resource errors, and applications being unable to write to queues.

As for the release of a patch to address these MSMQ problems, Microsoft is currently investigating the issue and will provide more information when it becomes available. A workaround is available for affected devices, and it is recommended to contact Microsoft Support for business to apply this workaround in your organization.

Immediate action can be taken by reaching out to Microsoft Support to mitigate the impact on your web application while waiting for a permanent fix.
