Bing was working fine. Then it stopped. Now I get a black background with what I think is a slid show of saved pictures. I have installed the Bing app, I have set personalization screen to picture, I don't know what happened.

Thanks for sharing the details! Try to turn OFF Windows Spotlight everywhere (this is the usual culprit)

What you’re describing often isn’t Bing at all, it’s Windows Spotlight hijacking the background, which can appear as a black screen with rotating photos.

    Do this carefully:

    Open Settings

    Go to Personalization → Background

If it says Windows Spotlight, change it to:

    • Picture (pick a local image), or
    • Solid color (temporarily, just for testing)

    Click Lock screen

Set Background to Picture (NOT Windows Spotlight)

    Turn OFF:

    • “Get fun facts, tips, tricks, and more on your lock screen”

    Restart Explorer

    • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
    • Find Windows Explorer
    • Right-click → Restart

See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with the Bing app and possibly your desktop background settings. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check the Bing App: Make sure that the Bing app is updated to the latest version. You can do this by visiting the Microsoft Store and checking for updates.
    2. Restart the App: Sometimes, simply restarting the app can resolve issues. Close the Bing app completely and then reopen it.
    3. Check Background Settings: Since you mentioned a black background with a slideshow of pictures, ensure that your desktop background settings are configured correctly. You can check this by going to Settings > Personalization > Background and selecting the desired option (e.g., Picture, Solid Color, Slideshow).
    4. Restart Your Device: If the problem persists, try restarting your computer. This can help refresh the system and resolve any temporary glitches.
    5. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consider reinstalling the Bing app or checking for any known issues with the app on the Microsoft support pages.
