AAD group license assiignment greyed out

Hi,

We're having problem with assigning a Security group with a license.
It shows the license we're using as a greyed out option.

I have also read and followed the ! Learn how to activate license assignements to group.
My role is Global administrator so it shouldn't be a problem?

Licensing requirements

You must have one of the following licenses for every user who benefits from group-based licensing:

Paid or trial subscription for Azure AD Premium P1 and above
Paid or trial edition of Microsoft 365 Business Premium or Office 365 Enterprise E3 or Office 365 A3 or Office 365 GCC G3 or Office 365 E3 for DOD and above

Hi,

Thank you for your answer,

We are stuck at point these points below, the security group that is synced from our AD to Azure AD is not showing up.
I've also created a security group manually from within AAD and that also is not showing up in the list. Only users are available to be selected.

On the Assign license page, select Users and groups to open a list of users and groups.

Select a user or group, and then use the Select button at the bottom of the page to confirm your selection.

Hi,

Just to check and confirm whether you are using Azure Portal for License assignment?.

aad.portal.azure.com

Also do you have any other roles assigned along with Global Administrator?Do you have Microsoft PIM priviledge access enabled?

The requirement is to have paid or trial subscription for Azure AD Premium P1 and above, just check if you have this.

This is a typical response from a Microsoft site. Basically useless. Anyone can google the Microsoft docs but providing an answer to the problem is missing. More times than not, the Microsoft docs do not cover any issues a person may encounter.
