Microsoft 365 Family includes the desktop applications and CoPilot lite for the main subscriber.

Those you share the subscription with also get the desktop applications but not CoPilot.

Each user must sign in on his or her own account and attach the subscription to that account.

As Arlene told you, to use the subscription version, you need to sign in at least once every 30 days.

John has pointed out that you can get the perpetual license version and, once activated, you do not need to sign in. That version, though, is for a single desktop installation and is not sharable.

If you make a one-time purchase of Office 2024 with Outlook or without Outlook, you only need to sign in to activate the software. After that, you don't need to sign in at all to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Microsoft 365 Family includes the full desktop apps like Word and Excel, you install them, sign in once with your Microsoft account to activate, then you can work offline, and the device only needs to go online roughly every 30 days so your subscription stays active based on Microsoft’s official policy.

If you do not sign in or the subscription is not confirmed, the apps stay installed but will only open files and will not allow editing until you sign in. Let me know what message you see when you try to use Word or Excel offline so I can guide you better.
