Windows Launcher Keeps Deleting My Notes While I'm Writing!

Please help me, especially in recovery. I use the windows launcher on my phone, specifically for the purpose of the homepage widgets. One of them being the sticky notes widget. Recently, this has happened two times before, where I'm in the middle of writing a note and all the text will immediately disappear as if I'm starting an empty one. Then I exit the note and all the information I saved is now gone! Before it was for reminders so it wasnt the end of the world but now I've lost some very important personal information! Please let me know what I can do to recover this and prevent it from happening again.

    Hi @Steven C

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced data loss while using the Sticky Notes widget on Microsoft Launcher. I understand how frustrating it is to lose important information. Because your notes sync with your Microsoft account via Outlook. Please check these locations immediately:

    • Outlook Web: Log in to Outlook.com and check the Notes folder and the Deleted Items folder.
    • OneNote Web: Visit onenote.com/stickynotes to see if a previous version of the note is cached there.

Please Note: While these steps are the most effective way to retrieve synced data, we cannot guarantee that your information will be recoverable. If the sync error occurred while the text was being cleared, the empty state may have overwritten the previous data on the server.

This issue often occurs due to sync conflicts or aggressive background battery management on Android. To stabilize the app, please follow these steps:

    1. Disable Battery Optimization: Go to Settings > Apps > Microsoft Launcher > Battery and select "Unrestricted." This prevents the Launcher from refreshing and clearing your text buffer while you type.
    2. Use the Full App for Long Notes: For sensitive or lengthy information, tap the note to open the full Sticky Notes interface rather than typing directly into the home screen widget.
    3. Manual Sync: After finishing a note, swipe down on the notes list to force a cloud sync.

We value your patience as we work to resolve this. Please let me know if you are able to retrieve your data using the steps above.

I'm looking forward to your response.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the Sticky Notes in the Windows Launcher on your phone, which can be frustrating. Unfortunately, the context provided does not contain specific recovery steps for lost notes in the Windows Launcher or Sticky Notes. However, here are some general tips that might help you:

    1. Check for Sync Issues: Ensure that your Sticky Notes are syncing properly with your Microsoft account. Sometimes, if there are sync issues, your notes might not save correctly.
    2. Backup and Recovery: If you have previously set up backups for your notes, you might be able to recover them from a backup. Check if there's a backup folder created during the previous steps of using Sticky Notes.
    3. Update the App: Make sure that your Windows Launcher and Sticky Notes app are updated to the latest version, as updates often fix bugs and improve stability.
    4. Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for assistance. They may have more specific recovery options or troubleshooting steps for your situation.

To prevent this from happening again, regularly save your notes and consider using an additional note-taking app that offers more robust recovery options.
