I would like Microsoft to help me access my account instead of telling me to go pound sand. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! I have tried the recovery page which is no help to me, and the phone number associated with the account is incorrect as I have not used this account in a couple of years.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Since you mentioned "I have not used this account in a couple of years.", I'm afraid your account may have already been deleted/closed due to inactivity.

As stated by Microsoft, accounts that have not been signed in or have been locked for more than 2 years will be deleted due to inactivity, and they can no longer be recovered: https://support.microsoft.com/topic/microsoft-account-activity-policy-7c0a9fa7-0982-b7c6-fd72-df852b63699f

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

To change the verification phone number associated with your Microsoft account, you will need to work with another admin if you are part of an organization. If you are the only admin, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for assistance. Here are the steps you can take:

    1. Ask Another Admin: If there are other administrators in your organization, ask them to update your phone number.
    2. Contact Support: If you are the only admin and cannot access your account, you will need to reach out to Microsoft Technical Support for help.
    3. Update Your Phone Number: Once you regain access to your account, you can update your phone number in the Microsoft 365 portal by signing in and navigating to Users and Groups > select your admin account > Settings > and then update your mobile phone number.

If you are unable to resolve the issue through these methods, consider visiting the Microsoft Community or Microsoft Entra Forums for additional support.
