I recently got a new headset, but I can't seem to connect the headset microphone to my device. The headset shows up as an output device only but I want it to show up as an input device as well. Is there any way for me to fix this issue?

    Hi,

Please advise what type/make of headset

this is. I have a headset with microphone

and it is a simple plug in and use. No software

    required.

To connect your headset microphone to your laptop and ensure it is recognized as an input device, follow these steps:

    1. Connect the Headset: Make sure your headset is properly connected to your laptop. If your headset has a 3.5mm audio jack, plug it into the appropriate audio port on your laptop. If it uses USB, connect it to a USB port.
    2. Check Audio Settings: Go to Settings > System > Sound on your laptop. Under the "Input" section, ensure that your headset microphone is selected as the input device. If it is not showing up, try unplugging and replugging the headset.
    3. Enable the Microphone: If your headset microphone is still not recognized, right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar, select Sounds, then go to the Recording tab. Here, right-click and select "Show Disabled Devices". If your headset microphone appears, enable it by right-clicking and selecting "Enable".
    4. Update Drivers: Ensure that your audio drivers are up to date. You can check for updates in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    5. Test the Microphone: After ensuring that the microphone is enabled, you can test it by speaking into it and checking the input level in the Sound settings.

If you follow these steps and your headset microphone still does not work, there may be a compatibility issue with the headset or a hardware problem that needs further investigation.

Install any software that came with the headset. It will show up as your headset's microphone sound device, which you need to select.
