How to verify e-mail, despite not being able to use authenticator or mobile method

Please help. I am having a nightmare. I can not currently access my outlook account. I know my password. I have recently changed it.

I am being asked to verify my e-mail address. I do not have my e-mail address registered to the Authenticator app so can not use that option. I select the 'use alternative method' option and use the 'receive a text' option but I am told that this option is not available at this time.

I therefore fill out a verification form, entering all sorts of details, from people who I have recently e-mailed to date, previous passwords of birth etc. I then receive an instant e-mail stating that my request was not approved.

I am unable to sign in to ask this question from my account as I constantly hit the 'Verify your profile' page and enter the same loop of getting rejected.

I am therefore using my work account to ask this question, on behalf of my personal account that I can not access.

Any guidance is much appreciated.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

The error you mentioned: "I select the 'use alternative method' option and use the 'receive a text' option but I am told that this option is not available at this time."

This means that your account is temporarily blocked due to the system detecting unusual activity.

Kindly perform these steps to fix the verification method error:

    1. Perform a password reset using your recovery phone number SMS via an InPrivate window or Incognito. Also, try using different devices and network services.
    2. If it doesn't work, please wait exactly 48 hours to perform a password reset.

Important: Please make sure not to attempt to sign in or reset the password within that timeframe (48 hours), as this may reset the lock cooldown.

Thank you for your understanding! Please feel free to let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

If you're unable to access your Outlook account due to verification issues, here are some steps you can take:

    1. Try Alternative Verification Methods: Since you mentioned that the text option is not available, ensure that you have checked if you can use any other verification methods that might be set up, such as an alternate email address.
    2. Multiple Attempts: If you are not receiving the verification code via text, you can attempt to request it multiple times within a short period. Sometimes, the system may have temporary issues that could resolve with subsequent attempts.
    3. Check Third-Party Security Apps: If you have any third-party security applications, they might be blocking the verification messages. Consider disabling them temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.
    4. Fill Out the Verification Form Again: If your initial verification form submission was not approved, you may want to try filling it out again. Ensure that you provide as much accurate information as possible, including recent emails and other details that can help verify your identity.
    5. Contact Support: If you continue to face issues, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance. They may be able to help you regain access to your account.

Unfortunately, without access to the authentication methods, it can be challenging to regain access, but following these steps may help you resolve the issue.
