Sign in Teams using another account

I have two MS accounts. I'm already signed in with Account #1. I want to sign in using Account #2.

  1. I signed out Account #1 from Teams, it says "Teams now supports multiple accounts, which means you won't have to sign out to move between your accounts".
  2. But when I tried to sign in Account #2 to Teams via the "add another account" button in my icon, I got an error message saying "multiple personal accounts aren't supported in Teams yet".
  3. I signed out Account #1. But when I start Teams again, it automatically signs me in with my Account #1.

I just need to use Account #2 to sign in but it appears that I cannot do that. How can it be fixed?

Hello. This is expected behavior. Teams currently does not support signing in with two personal Microsoft accounts (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live) in the same app profile.

The “multiple accounts” message only applies to mixing one personal account + one work/school account, not two personal ones.

To sign in to Microsoft Teams using a different account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Sign Out of the Current Account: Make sure you are completely signed out of Account #1. You can do this by clicking on your profile icon in Teams and selecting "Sign out".
    2. Clear Credentials: If Teams still signs you in automatically with Account #1 after signing out, it may be due to cached credentials. You can try clearing the Teams cache:
      • Close Microsoft Teams.
      • Navigate to %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams in File Explorer.
      • Delete the contents of this folder.
      • Restart Teams and try signing in with Account #2.
    3. Use the "Add Another Account" Feature: If you are still having issues, ensure that you are using the "Add another account" option correctly. However, note that currently, Teams does not support multiple personal accounts simultaneously. If you are trying to add another personal account, you may encounter limitations.
    4. Check for Updates: Make sure that your Teams application is up to date, as updates may include improvements to account management.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, you may need to check with your organization's IT support or refer to Microsoft support for further assistance.
