Hi there, I'm having a bit of a problem at the moment trying to find out if I can unlink my Microsoft account from a PlayStation account I no longer have access to.

Essentially, to keep things brief and avoid boring anyone. I had signed into my Microsoft account on Minecraft back in 2019/2020 on an old PlayStation account. However, later, I lost access to the PlayStation account.

I still have complete access to both the email addresses I used for the PlayStation & Microsoft accounts, but I can't seem to find anything online explaining if I can unlink that old PlayStation account from my Microsoft account.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks! :)

Hi, I'm Bernard, a fellow Windows user. I'm happy to help!

To unlink the PlayStation account, you need to contact the Xbox support to check the link account to your Microsoft account, as they specialize in this issue. You may reach them from the link below:

To unlink a Microsoft account from a PlayStation account, you typically need to have access to the PlayStation account itself. However, since you mentioned that you no longer have access to that account, the process can be a bit tricky. Here are some general steps you can consider:

    1. Check PlayStation Account Recovery Options: Try to recover your old PlayStation account using the recovery options available on the PlayStation website. If you can regain access, you can then unlink the Microsoft account directly from the PlayStation settings.
    2. Contact PlayStation Support: If recovery is not an option, reach out to PlayStation Support. Explain your situation and provide any necessary information they might need to verify your identity. They may be able to assist you in unlinking the accounts.
    3. Microsoft Account Management: You can also check your Microsoft account settings. While there may not be a direct option to unlink accounts without access to the PlayStation account, reviewing your account settings might provide additional insights or options.
    4. Account Linking Best Practices: According to best practices, users should have the ability to unlink accounts from their Microsoft account. If you have any specific applications or services linked, check if they provide a way to manage linked accounts independently.

Unfortunately, without access to the PlayStation account, the options may be limited, but contacting support for both platforms is your best bet.
