Migrate Print server from 2012 Standard to 2019

I have another thread regarding his migration here. It was thought I should ask this in a separate thread.

Basically I will need to migrate the Print server portion of the old 2012 standard server (DC/File/Print) to the new, 2019 server.

But upon reading this, I realized I don't even have the print and document Services role running on the old server. I just have the printers installed and share them out. When the clients try, they just discover and use them. This is a small company (~40 users) and it's worked fine.

So should I just do the same thing on the new (2019) server or am I missing something wonderful by not adding the print services role?

    Hello @ Jim

Except printer share, print services role also allows you to manage scanning and print through web browser.

The main advantage of using the Print and Document Services role is that you can manage printers on your server and share them directly, when configured with group policy, printer can show up on each client ‘s computer automatically without search and add manually.
