I keep having Word freeze up and display [Document Title} - Word (Not Responding). This has been happening for three days now. I have already Modified all Microsoft "Installed Apps" on my computer, I have done multiple Quick Repairs and Online Repairs. I have tried opening in "Safe Mode" (problem persists), I have disabled Add-Ins (problem persists), I have "Open & Repair[ed]" the document m multiple times, but still nothing is working. I have also made sure that my Word program is updated and it is.

    Workaround:

Perhaps do the following on a computer that does not have the problem.

    1. Try setting up a new document with the same page size, margins, and styles.
    2. Take the problem document and go to the end of the document.
    3. Press the Enter key to create a blank paragraph.
    4. Copy everything from the problem document except that last blank paragraph and paste it into the new document.
    5. Then test on the machine that is giving the problem.

Do you have the same problem with this new document on the problem machine?

If not, substitute it for the one that causes the problems.

Is this whenever you open Word or with a particular document or documents?

What happens if you start Word in safe mode? (This is a diagnostic step.)

If it works in safe mode see https://addbalance.com/articles/Word%20Works%20in%20Safe%20Mode%20But%20Not%20If%20I%20Just%20Start%20it%20Normally.htm or write back.

I normally would have recommended an online repair, but you've already done that.

Experienced similar issues with common commands, such as trying to print, or add a comment, or share the document. Not experiencing issues with editing, saving, etc.

Experiencing issues with new doc or previous ones that I know did not have issues. Tested with Excel (same problem) but not Powerpoint. Has Office pushed new updates recently?

It sounds like you are experiencing a persistent issue with Microsoft Word freezing and displaying "Not Responding". Since you have already tried several troubleshooting steps, here are a few additional suggestions that may help resolve the issue:

    1. Check for Mapped Drives: Sometimes, Word can hang if there are issues with mapped network drives. Ensure that all mapped drives are accessible and not causing the application to freeze. Disconnect any that are offline or inaccessible.
    2. Test Other Documents: Try opening different Word documents to see if the issue is specific to one document or if it occurs with all documents. If it only happens with a specific document, that document may be corrupted.
    3. Repair Office Installation: Since you have already performed Quick and Online Repairs, ensure that you have also checked for any pending Windows updates, as these can sometimes affect Office applications.
    4. Check for Conflicting Software: Sometimes, other applications or services running on your computer can interfere with Word. Consider temporarily disabling other software to see if that resolves the issue.
    5. Reinstall Office: If none of the above steps work, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling Microsoft Office. This can help resolve any underlying issues with the installation itself.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be beneficial to consult Microsoft support for further assistance.
