I've been using my scanner on my printer to scan documents to my computer to transfer to emails, etc. All of a sudden today I scanned one document, and the next one said the scanner is not connected. to my computer. I am older and not computer savvy but research and try before reaching out but I am not quite sure what to do. Can someone help me with this problem?

It sounds like you're experiencing a communication issue between your scanner and your computer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Connections: Ensure that the scanner is properly connected to your computer. If it's a USB scanner, try unplugging it and plugging it back in. If it's a network scanner, make sure it's connected to the same network as your computer.
    2. Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both your scanner and your computer can resolve communication issues.
    3. Check Device Manager: Open the Device Manager on your computer and look for your scanner under "Imaging devices". If there's a yellow exclamation mark next to it, there may be a driver issue. You can try updating the driver by right-clicking on the scanner and selecting "Update driver".
    4. Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service: Ensure that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running. You can check this by typing "services.msc" in the Run dialog (Windows + R) and looking for the WIA service. If it's not running, right-click and select "Start".
    5. Reinstall Scanner Drivers: If the above steps don’t work, consider uninstalling the scanner driver from Device Manager and then reconnecting the scanner to reinstall the driver automatically.
    6. Try a Different Application: If you're using a specific application to scan, try using another application or the built-in Windows Fax and Scan tool to see if the issue persists.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may want to consult the scanner's manual or contact the manufacturer's support for further assistance.
