Hello everyone,

Im having a huge problem as my main email in blocked. My Hotmail account was recently locked for “suspicious activity.” During the recovery process Microsoft asks for my Skype name, which I don’t remember and can’t retrieve because I’m locked out. When I choose the option to send a verification code it never arrives. I think the recovery email might be the same as the locked account, so I have no way to receive the code. I’ve tried different browsers and devices (no VPN) but I can’t pass the verification. Please advise alternative ways to verify ownership and recover the account.

To recover your locked Hotmail account, you can try the following steps:

    1. Use Account Recovery Options: Since you are unable to recall your Skype name and are not receiving verification codes, you should attempt to access the account recovery page again. Make sure to select the option that allows you to recover your account using alternative methods, if available.
    2. Check for Alternative Recovery Methods: If you have previously set up an alternative recovery email or phone number, try using those options to receive the verification code.
    3. Emergency Access Account: If you have access to Microsoft Entra, consider creating an emergency access account (also known as a break-glass account). This can help prevent being locked out of your account in the future and may assist in recovery.
    4. Contact Support: If you are still unable to recover your account, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance. They may have additional methods for verifying your identity and recovering your account.
    5. Patience with Verification Codes: Sometimes, verification codes can take a while to arrive. Ensure that you check your spam or junk folders as well.

Following these steps may help you regain access to your Hotmail account.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Aside from your recovery email address, do you have other security information/verification methods, email, or phone number linked to the account that you can access?

Did you have two-factor authentication (2FA) active on the account? If yes, are you able to access the second factor of authentication?

Also, do you still have the 25-character recovery codes for 2FA?

Lastly, may I know when was the last time you successfully signed in to your Microsoft account?

    Best regards,

    Darhyl
