How to fix editing function in Microsoft Photo app. It will not crop.

When I open a photo in Microsoft Photo app and click on the Edit function, the photo appears very small and it won't let me crop it.

Alternatively, you can try the Paint application (included in Windows) to investigate, crop and resave the problematic photo (if the problem is observed only with certain images).

I have done the answer above 3 times now. It works once, but then reverts back to the tiny image that you cannot edit or crop. It happens everytime there is a MS update. Why won't Microsoft Fix their Problems??????????????????

Hi! Does this problem happen with all images? If the image has a very high or low resolution, this can occur.

Try editing a photo downloaded from the internet and see if the problem persists.

If it's an app bug, try reinstalling it.

Update Microsoft Store

Search for Microsoft Store in the taskbar and open the store > Click on ''Library'' > ''Get updates'' > Update all applications > Restart your computer.

Search for Microsoft Store in the taskbar and open the store > Click on the User Profile icon > ''Downloads and updates'' > ''Get updates'' > Update all applications > Restart your computer.

Reinstall the Photos app

Type "'PowerShell'" in the search bar > Right-click on the application > Select '''Run as administrator'' > Select "Yes" in the authentication message that appears
Now let's type the following commands.

ATTENTION: Type (or copy and paste) the command exactly as I type it, including all characters and spaces > Press ENTER after typing the command.

Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | Remove-AppxPackage

OMG! Thank you!!! I have been trying to solve this problem for over a year with no success, and this worked like a charm and took about 3 minutes. One need not be a tech genius to follow these very clear instructions. Pin this bad boy to the other 300 posts on this topic. Thank you again for making one of my go-to apps usable again!!!
