Update Calendar Invites Without Sending Updates to Everyone

Hi, I've been making calendar items for the rest of the year for my team. But whenever I need to add someone, change something minor, change the "response required", etc, it always requires me to resend the entire thing to everyone on the list and filling their inboxes unnecessarily. I've looked into other forums on this and it seems to have been an issue for years, with no fix. I've also tried out the MacOS version of the Outlook app and it has the same issue as the web version. This was SO easy when I used to use G Suite with my old job. How do I do this? I'm not seeing any options, as mentioned in other question forums, and it seems there are many people on versions of Outlook that also don't have options of "Don't send updates", etc.

In Microsoft Outlook, when you make changes to a meeting or calendar item, the behavior regarding sending updates can vary based on the type of change made. Here are some key points:

    1. Informational Updates: Outlook generates informational updates in certain scenarios, such as when an organizer changes the location, adds or removes attendees, or modifies the subject or body of the meeting request. In these cases, attendees may receive updates that are optional to respond to, but the organizer must send updates to newly added or removed attendees.
    2. Send Update to Attendees Prompt: Normally, when you update a meeting, Outlook may prompt you with a Send Update to Attendees option. However, this prompt may not always appear, especially if the changes do not affect the overall meeting structure or if the attendees are from outside your organization, who will receive updates automatically.
    3. No Option to Avoid Sending Updates: Unfortunately, if you are not seeing options like "Don't send updates" in your version of Outlook, it may be due to the specific version or settings of your Outlook application. This limitation has been noted by other users as well, and it appears to be a consistent issue across different platforms, including the MacOS version.

In summary, while there are some scenarios where updates can be optional, significant changes generally require sending updates to all attendees. If this is a frequent issue, consider providing feedback to Microsoft or looking into alternative calendar management solutions that better fit your needs.

adding an address or adding notes with an agenda link ... always sends updates to everyone. It seems so unnecessary.

There is no way around the updates if everything is in the meeting item.

All of the workarounds for this, that I have seen, involve keeping the meeting details (e.g. agenda, supporting docs) someplace other than in the Outlook Meeting (e.g. SharePoint, Shared Folder, MS 365 Group Storage) and only have a link to where the details are stored in the meeting itself.
